Fire Prevention Is 24/7/365!

Fire Prevention is the most important part of the fire service- preventing fires and other dangerous emergencies through education and enforcement. We at the Buchanan Engine Company #1 over the past 40 years have created a comprehensive, strong fire prevention program to help educate residents about fire safety. 

The Buchanan Engine Company No. 1 participates in the KnoxBox® Program, which allows us to gain access to buildings in the Village of Buchanan during emergencies. This is a small, secure box, placed outside the building, near the entrance. All firefighters are assigned a code, and any access is tracked for security purposes. Village Code now requires KnoxBoxes® outside all newly built commercial and multi-family residential structures, however, it is an optional program for everyone else and we encourage its use.
