Activated Fire Alarm/Odor of Gas

On February 11, 2017 at 1757 hrs Cars 2551, 2552,2553, R-26, E-160 and E-161 and Buchanan PD were dispatched to a residence on Bannon Avenue for an activated fire alarm. Upon arrival we discovered no one was at home and there was a smoke condition in the structure. Entry was gained and it was discovered that a wood stove was malfunctioning and pushing smoke into the house. The contents of the stove were extinguished and removed and members utilized our thermal imaging cameras to verify the issue was contained to the stove. Positive pressure ventilation was then utilized to clear the smoke from the residence . While on scene a gas leak was discovered in the roadway nearby the scene and all units remained on scene to await Con Ed gas. All units cleared both scenes at 1915 hrs.
