Busy Day

September 24, 2016

To day was a busy day for Buchanan FD. We had a crew along with our Ladies Auxiliary at Buchanan Day ( which we hear had a great turnout) with fire trucks, giveaways, displays and refreshments while the rest of our department was marching in the Westchester County Convention Parade in Hastings - where the Maroon Platoon took trophies for 2nd Best Non-Regulation Uniform and of course, Best Rescue! Not to be out done, the crew back in the Village was then called mutual aid to the city of Peekskill for a large brush fire. Car 2552 and a crew responded with Utility 162, our UTV. We operated with Peekskill FD, Verplanck, Continental Village and Peekskill EMS to bring the fire under control in the difficult terrain. As always it is an honor to work with our neighboring brothers and sisters. And when we returned, Engineer Kieran Outhouse activated fire aid and our Ladies Auxiliary came to the rescue with sandwiches and drinks for our members. We covered it all today, we marched with pride, we had a great day with our community and helped put some fire out. An awesome job by all
