Extrication Equipment Grant

We are happy to announce that we have been named a recipient of a CREST grant from the State of New York in collaboration with State Assemblywoman Dana Levenberg. The $20,000 grant will be utilized to purchase a new battery-operated ram for automobile extrication, as well as a new strut kit to assist in vehicle stabilization. The Press Release is below:

Here is a look back at some notable events during the month of April.
4/1 - Four minutes into the new month Buchanan FD was requested to go on stand by for Montrose for a residential patio fire.
4/11 - Around 6:48 A.M. Buchanan FD was requested to go on stand by for the Montrose FD for smoke in the structure. Moments after Montrose chiefs arrived they requested one engine from BFD, and one ladder ... (Full Story & Photos)

Gas Emergency
April 16
Yesterday just after 12 P.M. Buchanan FD was requested to Gallagher St for reports of gas main struck by a contractor. Within minutes C-2551 was on scene and confirmed an active leak. Moments later Con Edison was on scene to shut down the gas supply.
Neighboring residents were asked to evacuate their homes due to high gas readings. All residents returned home when there houses were deemed safe. ... (Full Story & Photos)

Here is a lookback at some incidents and other notable events that took place during the month of March.
On March 4th we started out with an EMS call during the afternoon and a Chimney fire in the evening. Verplanck FD was on scene with their tower ladder, as part of our automatic mutual aid agreement.
On March 8th Utility 12 was requested to the City of Peekskill for a working structure fire.

Mutual Aid to Peekskill
March 23
Yesterday afternoon Peekskill FD transmitted a “10-75” working fire. Crews had heavy smoke on the fifth floor of an apartment building. Our Utility 12 was requested to the scene. Car 2552 and U12 responded within minutes. About 30 mins later our bus was requested to the scene to help evacuate residents. U4 and C-2555 responded upon dispatch.
