Since 1922, Fire Prevention Week has been a week where fire departments educate the public on fire and life safety. Every year, we teach fire prevention programs at two schools in our district, the Buchanan-Verplanck Elementary School and the Through the Looking Glass Preschool.
Fire Prevention Officer/Assistant Chief Andy Roush organized our fire prevention program this year, and over 150 children were educated about fire safety, evacuation procedures, staying away from chemicals, and how firefighters are here to help them.
Deputy Chief Tom Grant, Lieutenant Moray, Lieutenant Outhouse, Deputy Chief/Fire Inspector Joe Chapyak, Engineer Gene Skelly and Associate Member Michael Eichler Jr. attended.
